  • Scriptures

Some encouraging and interesting scripture passages regarding teaching, learning, children, and parents.

Deuteronomy 6:6,7 And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Isaiah 54:13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Psalm 78:1-6 O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from of old - things we have heard and known, things our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.

1 Timothy 3:4 . . .one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence.

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands

Proverbs 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother.

Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.

Joel 1:3 Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children and their children to the next generation.

Proverbs 3: 5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will collect for themselves teachers who will tell them what they are itching to hear; they will turn away from listening to truth and give their attention to legends.

Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom a house is built.

Ephesians 5:15-16 Look carefully at how you walk! Live purposefully, as wise people; making the most of the time, buying up each opportunity, for the days are evil.

Deuteronomy 4:9 Only be careful and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

Proverbs 31:1 ...it begins with "The sayings of King Lemuel - an oracle his mother taught him."

Proverbs 6:20-23 My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten then about your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake they will speak to you. For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life.

Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your son and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
